What is the NIPHS?
The Northern Ireland Planned Healthcare Scheme (NIPHS) is an initiative that allows patients residing in the Republic of Ireland to access planned medical treatments in Northern Ireland, with costs reimbursed by the Health Service Executive (HSE).
If you are on a waiting list for a procedure that is available at JACE Private Clinic, you may be eligible to have your treatment carried out here under the scheme. This can significantly reduce your waiting time while ensuring you receive high-quality, consultant-led care.
Treatments under NIPHS

Hand, wrist and elbow surgery including carpal tunnel, trigger finger and joint conditions.
Varicose vein treatment, sclerotherapy, and endovenous procedures.
Flexible cystoscopy, circumcision, hydrocele repair and vasectomy.
OGD, colonoscopy and flexible sigmoidoscopy procedures.
Abdominal surgery, hernias, breast conditions and soft-tissue procedures.
Targeted steroid injections for joint and soft tissue pain.
Mole checks, skin lesion assessment and minor surgical procedures.
How NIPHS Works
01Consult Your GP
Visit your GP in the Republic of Ireland and obtain a referral letter to JACE Private Clinic. Your GP will assess your condition and determine if referral is appropriate.
02Send Your Referral
Send your referral to info@jacemedical.co.uk. Our team will respond within 48 hours to arrange your consultation.
03Attend Your Consultation
Attend your consultation at our Greysteel or Letterkenny location. You'll be given consent documentation, a quotation, and the NIPHS HSE guidance form. Procedures are typically scheduled within 4–6 weeks.
04Day Case Surgery
Undergo your procedure under local or general anaesthetic in our modern surgical facilities. Benefit from minimal waiting times, rapid recovery, and comprehensive post-operative follow-up.
